In Advance Steel 2011 a new presentation rule has been created to display the surrounding grid axes of a main part profile. The "Grid reference" can only be shown on assembly drawings for profiles. The presentation rule is named "VisibleHiddenSystemGridRef".
If the column is present multiple times in the model then the label will include all the axes names on which the column is found (for the example in the following figure the whole frame was copied between A3-B3 grid intersections).
If the column is not exactly placed on an intersection point then the grid reference symbol will display the axes that are closest to the element.
Grid references can be included in the detail title. Open DSM and from the "User/Column" category, select the "Column - AutoIntersections" drawing style. On the "Detail title" page insert the "Grid reference" token, click "Apply" and then "Use" and then create a new drawing or update the existing drawing.
The grid reference can also be placed on the beam and brace view details, but for this you must make the same changes to the drawing style you use to detail this element.
There is a default that controls the shape of the balloon. It can be found in Management Tools (MT), in the "Drawing-Presentation" category and it is called "Default frame type for grid reference".
Value | Balloon shape |
1 | None |
2 | Rectangle |
3 | Rounded |
4 | Hexagon |
5 | Circle |
In the same category in MT there are 2 more defaults that control the color and the line type of the grid reference: "Color for grid reference in details" and "Default line type for grid reference".
